In a market where operating costs define margins, the Maldivia 45 (M45) changes the economics entirely. At 83 litres per hour at 30 knots in its most efficient diesel configuration, and about $181,500 of energy per year in its electric form, the M45 delivers savings that compound season after season. Against the best-selling competitor burning 360 litres per hour, the difference reaches $554,000 a year in the Maldives and up to $857,000 a year at world average fuel prices. All figures are compared with an established 48-foot competitor, the C48.
WHERE SUSTAINABILITY
MEETS PROFITABILITY
In October 2026, Hull No. 1 completed a week of sea trials in open water with waves from 0.5 to 2 metres. Half loaded to 9 tonnes and powered by just two 250 hp outboards, the M45 held 28 knots in 0.5–1 m waves over several runs and 27 knots in 1–1.5 m waves. With an optimised propeller, the same engines deliver 30.5–31 knots. In 1-metre waves the hull did not slam, and the captain never had to reduce speed.
“Manoeuvring in the harbour is far easier than with similar boats in the Maldives.” — Kandoo, Captain, M45 sea trials, October 2026

The Maldivia 45 is not just a faster, lighter ferry —
it is a fundamentally more profitable way to move passengers.
Now proven at sea.
The reason is weight.
Where competitors sit at 21+ tonnes fully loaded, the Maldivia 45 operates at 10–13 tonnes. This structural advantage cuts fuel per nautical mile by 44–74% and keeps the draft below 0.9 metres, unlocking routes and harbours that heavier vessels simply cannot serve.
Performance does not suffer for it.
The Maldivia 45 reaches 45 knots in its V12 configuration and runs a 30-knot service speed at typical loads with petrol, diesel or electric drive, with LNG and hydrogen as future options. It matches the speed of the C48 4x250hp on 60% of the engine power. With the 1,200-litre tank, the diesel versions cover up to 435 nautical miles at 30 knots, so operators are not constrained by refuelling stops on longer inter-atoll routes.
THE SMARTEST VESSEL INVESTMENT ON THE WATER
Passenger comfort is engineered to the same standard as the hull.
Panoramic reflective glazing, dual-redundant CTM Marine air conditioning, a stern-positioned washroom and up to 58 seats across 8 reconfigurable interior layouts make the Maldivia 45 as adaptable as it is capable. DNV or CE classified, epoxy-built for zero osmosis, and protected end-to-end with rubber bumpers and ALEXSEAL PU paint — this is a vessel built for a long, profitable working life.
The Maldivia 45 platform is suited to the following commercial ferry service profiles:
-
Inter-island and harbour routes requiring consistent 30-knot schedule speed
-
High-frequency operations where per-trip fuel cost directly affects route profitability
-
Services with weight-sensitive loading — 8.7 t payload supports a huge range of passenger configurations
-
Shallow-water approaches: maximum draft 0.90 m fully loaded
-
Fleet renewal: replacing high-fuel-cost four-engine petrol platforms
